Welcome to Piedmont, where the grapes act like an Italian soap opera cast. The star of the show? Nebbiolo. He’s the brooding eldest sibling, always in a suit (or rather, a bottle of Barolo or Barbaresco), insisting he’s the most sophisticated. “Aging makes me better,” he says, swirling his glass while dropping phrases like tar and roses. Everyone nods, but secretly they think he’s a little full of himself. We will do a deep dive into this revered region.
