The Sideways Effect
The fortunes of two varietals could not have been more diametrically impacted by a movie than that of Merlot and Pinot Noir. We will look at the improbable growth of the popularity of Pinot Noir and the relative obscurity of Merlot over the last 17 years. We will taste some of the best Merlot-based wines in the world from Bordeaux as well as single-varietal, old world and new world Pinot Noirs.
